Indians Miss Boat On Hudson

Our AL Central rivals in the north, the Twinkies, beat the Tribe to the punch on signing free agent second baseman Orlando Hudson this past week.  While the Indians were rumored to be in the mix for a 2yr deal that was backloaded and had a 3rd year option, they failed to sign him.  Also, the Twins agreed to not offer Hudson arbitration if he was going to be a type A free agent next year.

When Good Patterns Go Bad

I’d like to dispel this new notion before it gets too popular about a certain Indians center fielder who has been the subject of conjecture lately.  Jim Ingraham at the News-Herald and Morning Journal stated his interpretation of the facts today with a related recap/reconjecture by Big Al at MLBSecrets.  Both contend that Grady Sizemore will be traded before the July deadline.

Potent Potables

So we get into that waiting game in late-January/early-February where nothing’s really happening in the baseball world and everybody’s just getting ready for spring training (which is getting ready for the season (which is getting ready for the post-season)).  So its time to catch you up on all the wonderful news that’s happening in the Indians world with some observations and thoughts about 2010 thrown in.

A Feather in the Cap

Since the Indians have developed a wonderful habit of doing absolutely nothing right now, I thought it might be a good time to revisit the second longest active “curse” in the Majors: the Curse of Sockalexis.

Contingency Plans

If you’ve ever made a pot of spaghetti, threw a bunch of it at the wall only to have one strand stick, you’d have a great idea of what the Indians are trying to do right now.  Grab as many right-handed power hitters as you can find and hope one of them sticks.
